	La economía de la región sur se basa únicamente en la producción ovina y caprina que ha perdido rentabilidad a través de los años por diversos factores. Los productos de exportación tradicionales encuentran mercados internacionales muy competitivos y altamente subsidiados. Por lo tanto la diversificación en actividades de bajo costo relativo tales como la producción de estos camélidos silvestres es una opción importante para sistemas pastoriles como lo han señalado diversos autores. Con relación al guanaco existen dos alternativas: la primera sería demostrar, como pretendemos, su potencial productivo y la segunda sería dejarla en el estatus de especie plaga y competidora de la ganadería tradicional, lo que lleva a la caza ilegal y a la desaparición del recurso. La primera opción se sustenta en el concepto de diversificación productiva, teniendo en cuenta la importancia de la integración de varias especies en un mismo sistema de producción con las características particulares del ambiente patagónico. El mercado internacional actualmente presenta un importante mecanismo relacionado con carne y otros productos provenientes del medio silvestre, pero se ha podido observar que la obtención de otros productos es económicamente más importante. Considerando estos puntos y los precios que se han logrado en nuestra primera experiencia de comercialización, es indiscutible que un guanaco tiene un potencial productivo, equivalente a más de 10 ovejas.	The economy of the South region of the Rio Negro province is based solely in the ovine and goat production that has decreased in yield through the years by diverse factors. The traditional products of export find international markets very competitive and highly subsidized. Therefore the diversification in activities of low relative cost such as the production of these wild camelidaes is an important option for pastoral systems, as diverse authors have indicated. With relation to the guanaco two alternatives exist: first would be to demonstrate, as we try to do, the productive potential and second would be to leave it in a status of plague and competitor of the traditional cattle ranch, which takes to the illegal hunting and to the disappearance of the resource. The first option is sustained in the concept of productive diversification, considering the importance of the integration of several species in the same production system with the particular characteristics of the patagónico atmosphere. The international market presents at the moment an important mechanism related to meat and other originating products of the average wild, but it has been possible to observe that obtaining other products is economically more important. Considering these points and the prices that have been obtained in ours first experience of commercialization, it is unquestionable that the guanaco has a productive potential, equivalent to more than 10 sheep.

	Centramos nuestra justificación económica del proyecto en la consideración de que los productos de mayores posibilidades económicas en la actualidad son aquellos que reúnen las características de calidad, constituirse como recursos escasos, alternativas de producción tradicional y centrados en conceptos de biodiversidad y sustentabilidad. Todo lo anterior corresponde a tipos de productos que generan los guanacos en el establecimiento. Otra particularidad que hace a la especie en cuestión interesante es el hecho real que los productos elaborados con su fibra tiene en la actualidad acceso a mercados elípticos con un gran a valor agregado por el proceso de industrialización textil al que han sido sometidos en el extranjero. La cantidad de animales viviendo en estado salvaje ha sido constatada por un censo aéreo realizado por técnicos del I.N.T.A cuyos resultados ascienden en la zona de Ganzú Laufquen (Estancia Chacay) aproximadamente a 1.300 animales con un error por defecto debido a las transectas realizadas. Lo anterior nos asegura la diversidad genética con la que contamos y la garantía de sustentabilidad en cuanto que el proyecto no tiende al desmembramiento de la especie, sino por el contrario, a la protección de la misma.	We centered our economic justification of the project in the consideration that the products of mayor economic possibilities at the present time are those that unite the quality to constitute with limited resources, alternative of traditional production and centered in biodiversity concepts and sustentabilidad. All the previous corresponds to types of products that generate the guanacos in our establishment. Another particularitity that makes the species at issue interesting is the fact that the products processed with their fiber have at the present time access to elliptical markets with great value added by the process of textile industrialization which they have been put under abroad. The amount of animals living in the wild has been comfirmed by an aerial census made by technicians of the I.N.T.A whose results in the zone of Ganzú Laufquen (Estancia Chacay) reach about 1,300 animals. This assures the genetic diversity we count with and the guaranteed sustentability since the project does not tend to the dismemberment of the species, but on the contrary, to the protection of it.

	Con relación al aspecto social de la zona, y en base a los deteriorados valores de la fibra ovina, se está experimentando un fenómeno de migración hacia los pueblos por la pérdida de rentabilidad de las producciones tradicionales, lo que ocasiona que los campos estén casi desiertos originando mayores posibilidades a los depredadores naturales y al descontrol en cuanto a la sarna, lo que produce una baja importante en la calidad del producto de acopio, cerrando el círculo que justifica una aún menor rentabilidad de dichos productos.	In relation to the social aspect of the zone, and on the basis of the deteriorated value of the ovine fiber, a migration phenomenon is being experienced towards the towns due to the loss of yield of the traditional productions, which causes that the fields are almost deserted originating larger possibilities for the natural predators and the uncontrol as far as the scabies, which produces an important loss in the quality of the storing product, closing the circle that justifies a still smaller yield of these products.

	Esta migración hacia los pueblos, donde no existen posibilidades reales de trabajo, ocasiona un gran desmejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población. La creación de fuentes genuinas de trabajo, mediante la incorporación de la producción y elaboración de elementos extraídos del guanaco, originarían en tiempo inmediato, por la realización de nuestro proyecto, 5 puestos de trabajo para la crianza artificial (4 meses al año) y 1/ 200 animales en las etapas de semicautividad. Todo lo anterior por un único emprendimiento pero se visualiza un futuro mejor del campo laboral si se toma esta experiencia como modelo o ejemplo a imitar por otros productores. All this by a single farm but we envision a better future of the labor field if this experience is taken as a model or example to be imitated by other producers.
